The Flag of Newfoundland was adopted on May 28, 1980.
The design is based on that of the British Union Flag. The colours symbolize snow and ice (white), the sea (blue), human
effort (red) and confidence in the future (golden yellow). The two red triangle represent the mainland and island parts of the province. The yellow arrow stands for hope for the future. The trident (formed by the triangles and the arrow) refers to Newfoundland's continued dependence on fishing and the sea.
The flag is made of 100% polyester. They also have two brass grommets for easy attachment.
