This flag was adopted in June 20, 1960. This banner of arms was granted on March 31, 1906. The Union Jack is a reminder of British Columbia's origins as a British Colony and stands for its continued links with the United Kingdom. The crown represents the sovereign power that link, in free association, the countries of the Commonwealth. The sun setting over the Pacific Ocean, symbolized by the wavy stripes, remind us that British Columbia is the most westerly province of Canada.
The flag is made of 100% polyester. They also have two brass grommets for easy attachment.
